Description: Sarah Rhea is a CDC Epidemic
Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer stationed at the North Carolina
Division of Public Health. After receiving her DVM from Purdue
University in 2004, Dr. Rhea practiced small animal medicine in Indiana
for several years. She then earned a MPH in 2009 and a PhD in
Epidemiology in 2013, both from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. During graduate school, she was a research assistant for NC
DETECT at the Carolina Center for Health Informatics. Dr. Rhea’s
graduate research examined the epidemiology of animal bites in North
Carolina using statewide emergency department surveillance data. Her
interests include infectious disease epidemiology and public health
practice.
