Patients at two dental surgeries in Ayrshire are being
offered blood tests following an investigation into infection control
precautions.
More than 5000 clients of surgeries at Millbank Lane, Cumnock and
Mill O’Shields Road, Drongan will be contacted and offered a test for
blood borne virus infections, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and
HIV.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran insisted there was very low risk of
Hepatitis C infection and even lower risk of Hepatitis B or HIV
infection.
It follows a previous warning to patients in October 2013, which
health chiefs say brought additional information to light about breaches
which may have happened prior to October.
