Scientists create tiny human liver cells from stem cells

The New York Times reported today that researchers in Japan have used human stem cells to create tiny human liver cells that they successfully transplanted into mice. While human studies are years away, this is a significant accomplishment toward the goal of one day replacing damaged liver tissue with stem cells.
