— Around 2 to 3 per cent of the general population in Jordan have
hepatitis B, an expert said on Wednesday, adding that this rate has
dropped from 10 per cent in the 1980s.

Hamoudi, consultant for gastroenterology and hepatology and head of the
internal medicine department at Al Bashir Hospital, said around 120,000
to 180,000 Jordanians live with hepatitis B, out of an estimated
population of over 6 million.
